TRANSFER CREDIT EVALUATIONS
https://www2.gmu.edu/admissions-aid/how-apply/transfer/transfer-credit-policy

  • All students are responsible for providing their final transcript to the Office of Admissions. Transfer credit evaluations are considered final upon completion of the first academic year of enrollment. No changes will be made to evaluations after this time.
If your first semester at Mason was fall 2016, you have until the last day of classes for spring 2017 to rectify any issues regarding your transfer transcript.
If your first semester at Mason is this spring 2017, you have until the last day of classes for fall 2017 to rectify any issues regarding your transfer transcript.

    • If you are missing any transfer credits from your evaluation, please submit a Transfer Credit Inquiry Form to Transfer Admissions. This form can be found at https://admissions.gmu.edu/documents/transferCreditInquiryForm.pdf
    • If you were awarded elective credit for a course and wish to have it re-evaluated as equivalent to a specific Mason course, please complete the Transfer Credit Re-evaluation Appeal Form. This form can be found at https://admissions.gmu.edu/documents/transferCreditReEvalAppealForm.pdf
  • If you were accepted to Mason as GAA and believe you should have the Mason Core Waiver, but your transcript does not have it applied to your record, please contact Transfer Admissions at 703.993.2400 or visit them in 2100 Student Union Building I (SUB I) on the Fairfax campus.

TRANSFER CREDIT SUBSTITUTIONS FOR MAJOR REQUIREMENTS
All students are responsible for ensuring their transfer credits are applying accurately in their transcript and degree evaluation and that they are taking the courses they need to graduate. If you need any substitutions completed for approved courses, please send an email to bsit@gmu.edu or schedule an appointment with a full time advisor (Mrs. Howe, Ms. Genova, or Mrs. Sevilla) at ist.gmu.edu/go/advising as soon as possible so we can take care of those to alleviate any confusion for summer and spring registration.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • If you are a transfer student in the 2014-2015 catalog and have transfer credit for IT 105 (ITN 100 + ITE 221 from NVCC), you will need a substitution for those credits to count as IT 101 and IT 212.
  • If you are a transfer student in any catalog with transfer credit for (ACC 211 + ACC 212 from NVCC), you will need a substitution for MBUS 300 to have these credits apply for the major requirement.
