New Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies
Dr. Khondkar Islam has stepped into the role of Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies. Dr. Islam is a familiar face in our program, as he has served as an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Networking and Telecommunications Concentration. We are excited to welcome him to his new role.

Fall Registration and Overrides
Need to make adjustments to your schedule? There is still time (deadlines are below). If you receive a registration error, please complete the Override Request form on our website. Remember: we do not waive prerequisites and we do not force add students to courses that are full. If you need registration assistance, please schedule an appointment with an advisor.

Add/Drop Deadlines
As noted above, you still have time to adjust your fall schedule. Deadlines are as follows:
• Last day to add classes- Tuesday, September 8
• Last day to drop with no tuition penalty- Tuesday, September 8
• Last day to drop with a 33% tuition penalty- Tuesday, September 15
• Final Drop Deadline (67% tuition penalty)- Friday, October 2
• Selective Withdrawal Period- October 5 through October 30
**Important note: add/drop deadlines differ for courses that start during the second half of the semester. Always verify dates on the Registrar’s website.

Fall Waitlists
On Friday, August 28th at approximately 3:00 a.m., the last waitlist overrides will be issued to students that are waitlisted. Those students will have the normal 72-hour period to use their override to register for the seat that has been reserved. Students will no longer be able to waitlist for classes at this time. On Monday, August 31st at approximately 3:00 a.m., all students that remain on the waitlist will be dropped and the waitlist limits will be reset to zero. In other words, starting Monday at 3:00 a.m., any spaces that open in courses are first come, first serve. No waitlists will be maintained.

Online Advising
Have a quick question you need answered? Check out our online advising tool! Online, live advising is available at various times during the day, depending on advisor availability. It is intended for short questions that do not require a full, in-person advising session. If you need in-depth assistance please schedule an in-person advising appointment.

In-Person Advising
Staff and faculty have posted their Fall semester advising hours in the online appointment system. When selecting an appointment, be sure to use “BSIT Advising” as your appointment type; otherwise, you may have difficulty finding an appointment. Also select which campus you wish to have your appointment on- Fairfax, SciTech (formerly named the Prince William campus), or the Loudoun Campus. Note that advising at the Loudoun campus will only be available a few times during the semester; it will not be a weekly option. Remember which campus your appointment is scheduled on; if you arrive at the wrong campus you will not be able to be seen and will need to reschedule your appointment.

As a reminder, we have two full-time advisors: Ms. Cheryl Howe who advises at the Fairfax Campus and is generally available from 10:00-5:00 M-F and Ms. Krystal Dains who is available at the SciTech campus Tuesday through Thursday 11:00-7:00 and Fridays 10:00-6:00. Krystal also advises at the Loudoun Campus on occasion and will next be available there on Thursday, September 4. All full-time faculty also offer advising. Appointments can be made in the online appointment system. We do not make appointments via email or phone.
