Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) – Geography and Geoinformation Science

One Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) position will be available for fall 2017.

The successful applicants will work both on campus and off campus at the client’s site in Washington, DC. Partial financial support will be provided for the local travel from GMU to DC.

The client is developing a new data management system which is intended to automate data validation, upload, and update; facilitate collaboration and information sharing across the agency; improve data integrity by reducing errors in data entry and processing; facilitate succession planning; and provide numerous other efficiencies that are increasingly critical in a resource-strained environment.

The tasks will include programming business rules and procedures used by the system; creating customized applications (web and desktop tools) as necessary for accessing data and creating reports; database administration and general data management.

Required technical skills are experiences with relational database management systems, the Structured Query Language (SQL), stored procedures (T-SQL), C#, and general data management.

Good communication skills and a positive attitude is also required. Understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, Excel Power Pivot, desktop applications, and ASP.net would be also helpful to the project.
