Zeehasham Rasheed is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology.

Professor Rasheed is currently working as a Data Scientist at Mapquest AOL, Dulles Virginia.  His current projects include analyzing Geo-Spatial data for Location Based Analytics.  At Mapquest, he is involved in big data analysis on geo-location data to capture user behavior and provide useful insights.  His other projects include complex data analysis on large datasets to further develop online campaign optimization and user preference targeting algorithms.  He is also conducting research in online advertising/marketing analytics, behavioral targeting and web analytics.

Professor Rasheed’s research interests include Large-scale Data Mining and Machine Learning.  Particularly interested in developing algorithms for classification, clustering, similarity search and statistical analysis in various domains.  His current research involves analyzing Geo-Spatial data for Location Based Analytics.  Performing big data analysis on geo-location data to capture user behavior and provide useful information.  Also creating customer segments for efficient targeting and converting addresses into more meaningful point of interest.  Furthermore, he is performing complex data analysis on big data and identifies meaningful patterns that provide actionable recommendations.  He works with cross departmental team to define metrics, guidelines and strategies for effective use of computer algorithms and data.  Also conducting research in advertising/marketing analytics, behavioral targeting and web analytics.

He has completed his PhD from Department of Computer Science, George Mason University in May 2013.  He was a member of Data Mining Lab @ GMU where he worked on data mining techniques for bioinfomatics and computational biology.
