Understanding data analytics and cloud computing is a requirement for many current professions. This course will provide the student an understanding of cloud computing’s business and technical characteristics along with a hands on introduction into data analytics by using IBM’s statistical software, SPSS. These skills will prepare the student for taking the industry recognized CompTIA Cloud Essentials certification exam and IBM’s SPSS Statistics Level 1 v2 certification exam.

Course Content

The course is divided into two sections. The first section explains cloud computing and services from a business and technical perspective to prepare the student for CompTIA’s Cloud Essentials exam. The business value of the cloud is described using total cost of ownership. Technical concepts cover data storage, virtualization, security, and migration to the cloud. The cloud computing and services section will conclude with adoption steps, risks and consequences that will focus on the impact and changes to IT service management.

The second section will tour the world of data analytics before instructing in the fundamentals of using IBM SPSS Statistics and how it fits into the data analysis process. Hands on instruction covering the basics of reading data, data definition, data modification, and data analysis and presentation of analytical results will be provided. This will prepare the student for IBM’s SPSS Statistics Level 1 v2 certification exam.
