
IMPORTANT: Python/Java Clarification and Reminders

- If you took IT 106 PYTHON, please be sure to register for IT 206 PYTHON, or starting fall 2018, IT 209.
- If you took IT 106 JAVA, please register for IT 206 JAVA.
- Students who took Python sections of IT 106 SHOULD NOT register for Java sections of IT 206 because they will not be amply prepared to succeed in it.
- Students who took Java sections of IT 106 SHOULD NOT register for Python sections of IT 206 because they will not be amply prepared to succeed in it.
- If you have completed IT 106 JAVA, you will not be permitted to take IT 209. You must take IT 206 JAVA (posted to the website on 26 January 2018).
- Students who have attempted IT 106 JAVA twice may not take IT 106 PYTHON or IT 109 for the third attempt; students who have attempted IT 106 PYTHON or 109 twice may not take IT 106 JAVA for the third attempt.
- Students who have attempted IT 206 JAVA twice may not take IT 206 PYTHON or IT 209 for a third attempt; students who have attempted IT 206 PYTHON or IT 209 twice may not take IT 206 JAVA for the third attempt.
We have been getting quite a few inquiries about IT 106/206 Python not being offered in fall 2018. This is a reminder that IT 106/206 Python are named IT 109/209 starting fall 2018.
COURSE REGISTRATION INFORMATION
As posted to the student listserv and in the Advising Corner on our website, ist.gmu.edu, on 16 October 2017 and 22 January 2018:
If you took IT 106 Python and you enroll in IT 206 Java, or, if you took IT 106 Java and you enroll in IT 206 Python, you are in the wrong section of the course. If, at any time, you are found in the wrong section, you will be removed from it. Any financial or academic repercussions of this schedule change will be your responsibility.
