Welcome to the Fall 2016 Semester

We hope that your first two weeks of the semester have been great and that you’re enjoying your courses as well as the student life at Mason.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  1. Add/Drop
    For the full fall 2016 semester calendar, please visit the Registrar’s calendar.
    Last day to add/drop classes
    Midterm progress reporting period
    Selective withdrawal period (for undergraduates)
  2. Changing Your Major to IT
    The last day to change your major to IT for the fall 2016 semester was 06 September 2016. The earliest you will be eligible to declare would be after final grades are submitted for the semester, provided you meet the eligibility requirements, listed here.
  3. Study Abroad Opportunity
    Consider studying abroad in Barcelona this winter break while earning credit for IT 341!

  4. Advising Appointments
    Don’t forget to schedule an advising appointment with one of the IST Department full time academic advisors! Our faculty are also advisors, so utilize them for career and concentration advising!
  5. Tutoring
    Having trouble in a course? There are a number of resources that can help you succeed:

    1. First, and most importantly, stay in contact with the instructor of the course. They are there to help you.
    2. If there is a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) assigned to the course, reach out to them. They are also there to help you.
    3. Seek out a peer mentor from GMU STARS Alliance Organization, which offers tutoring in a number of IT courses.
    4. Seek out a tutor from VSE Peer Advising, which offers tutoring in a number of IT courses.

    Transfer Nation is an informal social event, sponsored by the Welcome 2 Mason Committee, designed to help transfer students connect with academic units, advisors, and other transfer students.
