IT 214: Database Fundamentals – Learn Databases in a New Innovative Way!
Future IT 214 Students!
This coming Fall and Spring, 2014/2015, the AIT department offers an incredible opportunity for students to take IT 214 in a new, innovative Active Learning Technology (ALT) classroom, designed to support interactive, collaborative and a technology-enhanced learning environment.
IT 214 coordinators, Dr. Rytikova and Dr. Boicu, are the only two faculty in the Volgenau School of Engineering nominated by the GMU Center for Teaching and Faculty Excellence to teach in ALT!
When active learning is used in the classroom, typical lecture methods of instruction are replaced with a new approach where students work collaboratively during class time and focus primarily on understanding and applying the material using cutting-edge classroom technology. Check out the video to learn more about student experiences in ALT!
Taking IT 214 in ALT will help students to become active participants in the learning process. It will support them in building competencies (problem-solving, critical thinking, communication) as well as content knowledge in a fun and creative environment!
If you’d like to get a great learning experience in IT 214, sign up for Section 007 in Fall 2014 or Section 001 in Spring 2015!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact course coordinators Dr. Rytikova (irytikov@gmu.edu) and Dr. Boicu (mboicu@mu.edu).
See you in class!
