New Course Offering for Fall 2014: IT 499 001 – Scalable Web Application Programming

Available for both Database Technology and Programming (DTP) and Wed Development and Multimedia (WDM) concentrations!

This course covers innovative techniques on client and server side scripting languages and a SQL database management system. Students will use open source software tools to develop database-enabled web applications on a scalable, enterprise level. This course enables students to extend their knowledge on client and server-side programming toward application areas while addressing best practices.

The student will learn how to program Object Oriented PHP, effectively use databases in web development, address security risks on the web, use and store images and files in a database, personalize a website, and use publicly available data stored in XML or JSON text files and create modular websites to increase code reuse. 

These skills will aid students in becoming more professional web developers who can integrate tools to create innovative, large-scale solutions to programming quandaries.
