Two student positions available for fall 2018

Two student positions will be available for fall 2018 (20 hours/week each). 
Successful applicants will work both on campus and off campus at the client’s site in Washington, DC.
Partial financial support will be provided for the local travel from GMU to DC. The client is developing a data management with multiple intelligent engines which are intended to automate data organization, streaming, validation, upload, and update; and provide numerous other efficiencies that are increasingly critical in a resource – strained environment. The tasks will include creating customized applications (web and desktop tools) as necessary for accessing data and creating data science reports; machine-learning driven reports, dashboards, pivot tables, and web reports.
 
Required technical skills are (but vary for the 2 positions): experiences with data science, relational database management systems, Structured Query Language (SQL), Python, R, stored procedures (T-SQL), and overall data management skills (including data cleaning, data aggregation, and building data reports). Good communication skills and a positive attitude is also required.
Depending on performance, the positions have potential to be extended for a year, and potentially beyond.
Additionally, this position offers an opportunity to publish a journal or a conference paper at a top-tier data science venue. PhD students are strongly encouraged to apply (a GRA could be offered). MSc students who are not graduating in Fall 2018 are also encouraged to apply.
