Gene Shuman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology.
He has taught a variety of Information Technology courses, most recently introductory programming and object-oriented programming to GMU IST undergraduates. He previously was the Director of Enterprise Systems Development for the Bureau of Consular Affairs at the U.S. Department of State where he oversaw the development and support of passport, visa, and consular services systems.
Dr. Shuman earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science at George Mason University, an M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park, and a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science at Penn State University, University Park. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). His research and professional interests include data mining, machine learning, analytics, software engineering, and project management.
