Sharmin Sultana: Assistant Professor

Sharmin Sultana, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology.

Her research interests include Image Processing, Computer Vision and Deep Learning focusing on the medical imaging domain. In her research, Dr. Sultana aims to develop computational methods and algorithms to analyze and process biomedical image data that enables healthcare providers to accurately detect, diagnose and treat diseases. She has devised several state-of-the-art techniques for automatic image segmentation, multimodal image registration and shape analysis for image-guided procedures to treat cancer patients.

Dr. Sultana earned her Ph.D. in Computational Modeling and Simulation Engineering at Old Dominion University in 2017. She was a postdoctoral research fellow in Radiation and Oncology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine till 2020. Dr. Sultana received her M.S and B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
