Zeehasham Rasheed is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology.

Professor Rasheed is currently working as a Principal Data Scientist at Verizon in Ashburn, Virginia.  His current projects include designing framework for Big Data Analytics and analyzing Finance data for building Predictive Models.  At Verizon, he is involved in managing and processing financial data to develop predictive models for costing, scheduling and several other financial metrics. He is also conducting research in online advertising/marketing analytics, behavioral targeting, Geo-Location analytics, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Deep Learning.
Professor Rasheed’s research interests include Large-scale Data Mining and Machine Learning.  Particularly interested in developing algorithms for classification, clustering, similarity search and statistical analysis in various domains. He works with cross departmental team to define metrics, guidelines and strategies for effective use of computer algorithms and data. He is also involved in designing and developing online courses for Information Sciences and Technology department in collaboration with Wiley publishing company.

He has completed his PhD from Department of Computer Science, George Mason University in May 2013.  He was a member of Data Mining Lab @ GMU where he worked on data mining techniques for Bioinfomatics and Computational Biology.
