Biography

Sharmin Sultana, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology. Her research interests include Multimodal Image Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, and Deep Learning focusing on the medical imaging domain. In her research, Dr. Sultana aims to develop computational methods and algorithms to analyze and process biomedical image data that enable healthcare providers to accurately detect, diagnose, and treat diseases. She has devised state-of-the-art AI techniques for image-guided procedures to treat cancer patients.

Dr. Sultana earned her PhD in Computational Modeling and Simulation Engineering at Old Dominion University in 2017. She was a postdoctoral research fellow in Radiation and Oncology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 2017 to 2020. Dr. Sultana received her MS and BS in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
